Bentonville, AR… Since April 2017, City of Bentonville Staff, with the assistance of multiple public committees, has worked to determine the future of Bella Vista Lake and the 135-acre park. In October 2017, a grant from the Walton Family Foundation allowed the City of Bentonville to hire design consultants and engage the public to create conceptual master plans for the public park. The goal of the master planning process was to provide City Council with as much information as possible regarding construction cost, long-term maintenance costs and future programming. These plans were presented to the Bella Vista Lake Task Force on May 30, 2018 and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board on June 18, 2018.
Since the June 18 meeting, City Staff has worked to identify potential funding sources to assist with the park improvement project. The grant and funding applications have been submitted and the City should know the outcome in coming weeks. The September 11 presentation will detail the three (3) proposed plans for the property, total cost estimates, available funding and possible timelines for construction. Staff and design consultants will present each option and answer questions from the Council.
