Bentonville, AR- The Bentonville Police Department announces the last Citizens Police Academy for 2020. Classes will start on October 26, 2020 at the Bentonville Police Department training room. Each session will run on Monday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for 8 consecutive weeks. The instruction is comprehensive and will include a tour of the facilities, along with lectures and demonstrations designed to give a working knowledge of the Bentonville Police Department. Topics covered include the Bomb Squad, Patrol Division, Emergency Communications Center, Criminal Investigation Division, Child Advocacy Center, Forensics, K-9’s, recruiting, and a presentation by our Staff Attorney.
The academy was established in 1999 and has successfully graduated over 400 citizens. The Citizen’s Police Academy encourages police interaction with the community and is a source of new ideas from community members.
Note: Applicants must be at least 21 years-of-age to participate in the Citizen’s Police Academy. Class size is limited to 15 applicants based on the training room size and to keep proper distancing based on recommendations by the Arkansas Department of Health.
