Bentonville, AR…Do you know any unsung heroes whose praises you’d like to sing? Do you know any groups within the community who contribute to the city but haven’t gotten the recognition they deserve?
Mayor Stephanie Orman is announcing that she plans to continue the Outstanding Citizen Award Program initiated by Mayor McCaslin in 2011. First quarter 2019 nominations are due by March 31, 2019. Citizens residing in the corporate city limits of Bentonville are eligible to be nominated for their outstanding contributions to the community. Recognition is available for three award categories: youth (those 18 years of age and under), adult, and group.
By spotlighting these individuals and groups who toil with a smile in relative anonymity, we are actually reflecting upon the quality of citizenship in our community. These quiet heroes are sprinkled throughout the area. They perform deeds silently or with an assuring voice, without the lure of fanfare, without the expectation of reward or honor. They serve with grace and humility. This pillar of the community might be a teacher, business owner, mother, father, soldier, adolescent, teenager, athlete, community leader, or volunteer…the list is endless.
Please consider taking the time to recognize and nominate an individual whose contributions make Bentonville a better place to live. Nomination forms are available at www.bentonvillear.com or at the Mayor’s Office in City Hall at 117 W. Central or by calling the Mayor’s Office at (479) 271-5966.
