In an effort to keep our citizens and participants safe, Bentonville Parks and Recreation will be taking the following measures regarding COVID-19.
Since March, many of Bentonville Parks and Recreation Facilities have been closed or limited because of the Covid-19 Pandemic. As the Arkansas Department of Health begins to announcements the lifting of restrictions on public facilities, we are excited to begin slowly and cautiously reopening select recreation amenities in our parks system. May 15 Sports Fields (Memorial Park, Philips Park and Citizens Park) reopen for public use. Sports team practices are permitted on a first come – first serve basis. Leagues, Tournaments, and organized events will continue to remain suspended, but teams may return to the park for limited use, provided they follow the safety guidelines set in place by the Arkansas State Health Department. May 18 Bentonville Community Center and Downtown Activity Center reopen in a limited capacity. The Fitness Center, Fitness Classes, and Lap Swimming will resume for members on Monday, May 18. In order to meet Arkansas State Health Department guidelines, timed sessions will be offered for the fitness center, classes, and swimming to prevent long waits and allow for adequate social distancing. Members can register for sessions online once your membership is activated. The Kids Center, Community Rooms, Basketball Gymnasium, Recreational Swim, and our Lounges will remain closed. We expect to be able to open these amenities soon. Please refer to our website for further detailed information regarding our facility operation during this reopening. The Downtown Activity Center will also open Monday, May 18 for public business from Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Our Fitness Studios, Restrooms, Locker Rooms, Conference Room, and Bike Rentals will not open or resume programming at this time. May 22 Tennis Complexes (Citizens Park and Memorial Park) will reopen at 50% capacity. This includes restrooms at each facility. Tennis courts will open in a limited capacity. only half of the available tennis courts will be reopened at this time to allow for social distancing. Limited programming will be offered and no more than 2 people will be permitted per court. May 26 Restrooms at Dave Peel Park and Lawrence Plaza reopen for public use. May 28 Bark Park reopens. This includes restrooms facilities.
Please note Park playgrounds, restrooms not identified above, basketball courts, volleyball courts, and skate park remain closed. Parks and trails are open, but you are encouraged to use social distancing guidelines.

The Memorial Park Glow Run has been cancelled. All youth sports programming remains suspended. All other classes, programs, and activities have been suspended, unless identified above..
Our team continues to work with local health officials and follows the directives from Governor Hutchinson and the Arkansas Department of Health. We await directives on recreation swimming pools / splash parks, Summer Camps and Team sports. As soon as announcements are made on these activities, we can announce openings for additional facilities.
