Cemetery

The Bentonville Public Works Department through its dedicated employees provide responsive, thorough, and efficient cemetery services to families and individuals with compassion and dignity. Sitting on 19 acres with 11,000 grave spaces with some dating back to the early 1800s. The cemetery also has a columbarium and committal shelter with 320 cremation niches available for sale. Additionally, the cemetery also has a mausoleum originally constructed in 1909 with spaces still available for sale.


Policies

  • Live flowers should be removed within 10 days of placement.
  • No enclosure or structure should be placed around any grave or lot.
  • The city shall have the right to remove any head stone or inscription it deems offensive.
  • Trees, shrubs, and flowers cannot be grown on grave spaces or lots. However, memorial trees may be planted in select locations and may be arranged with the Public Works Department.
  • Bench location MUST be approved before placement.
  • Memorial/Veteran flags placed by private individuals or organizations MUST be removed no later than 48 hours after placement.
  • Head stone area may be used for flowers if there is no marker stone present.
  • Shepherds hook may be used on either side of head stones.
  • If a head stone is present, live flowers or artificial flowers may be placed in front of the stone, or a saddle type arrangement may be placed on top of an upright head stone.
  • All foot markers must be flush with the ground.
  • The area between the bottom edge of the grave and the upper planting area must remain clear for mowing.

 

Cemetery fees & pricing

In Ground Grave Space Price - $600.00

 

Double Depth or Companion Spaces - all-inclusive price at $1,500 per space. This price will include $600 for a single space and a one-time open and close fee of $900 due at the time of the first interment, the second interment will be included.

 

Approved Burial Vaults - Concrete lined vault or equivalent. Polypropylene “Poly Liner” is NOT an acceptable burial liner.

 

Cemetery Space Buy Back Policy – The buyback of unwanted spaces will be at the original purchase price. For questions contact Public Works Manager. (479) 271-5945

 

Columbarium Pricing - $700. Price includes niche, engraving by an approved vendor and the opening/closing of niche.
