The electric portion of your utility bill includes a line item for the Power Cost Adjustment (PCA). The PCA changes monthly, it is important to understand it is not due to a change in your electric rates, but due to the changing costs of the fuel used to generate the electricity you use that is charged by the Utility’s power provider. These costs are passed through to the customer and the utility does not make additional revenue from the PCA.

An estimated portion of the fuel cost is included in the electric rates, however as the costs to produce and supply energy, primarily driven by the variability in the cost of fuel, the PCA ensures the full cost is to provide electricity is recovered. Fuel costs for the various power plants that service Bentonville include, coal, lignite and natural gas which can increase or decrease with the market.
