[ARCHIVED] City of Bentonville Initiates Debris Removal for Commercial Entities

Bentonville Web

Bentonville, AR, July 12, 2024 — In support of long-term recovery efforts, the City of Bentonville is pleased to announce that FEMA has approved the City’s request for debris removal from the public rights-of-way of commercial entities. This approval, however, is limited to a single pass.

The City’s debris removal contractor will begin storm debris removal from the public rights-of-way of commercial entities on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. It is important to note that only one pass has been authorized by FEMA. Therefore, after your debris has been removed, please do not place additional debris along the public right-of-way.

Additionally, if you receive insurance proceeds for disaster debris removal, such proceeds must be returned to the City and credited to FEMA to prevent duplication of benefits. If you have commercial debris to be picked up, you are encouraged to call 479-326-6559 to ensure you qualify and are included on the list.

It is also important to note that FEMA did not approve the removal of commercial debris from large commercial areas such as shopping centers, industrial and manufacturing facilities, and other easily identifiable commercial areas. The responsibility for debris removal in these areas remains with the commercial entities themselves, and FEMA will not allow reimbursement for such debris removal.

For churches and non-profit entities, the process is slightly different. These organizations will need to apply as individual applicants with FEMA. The deadline for such applications is July 29, 2024. To apply for FEMA assistance online, please visit Disaster Assistance or call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. FEMA representatives are also available on-site at the NWACC Student Center, Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, to assist residents in filing for FEMA assistance.

For more information, please contact the City of Bentonville at 479-326-6559.
