Bentonville, AR – October 8, 2025. The City of Bentonville is accepting applications for Bentonville residents to serve on the Library Advisory Board. This committee serves in an advisory capacity to city staff, mayor, city council, and the Library Director for a five-year term that will begin in January.
The Library Advisory Board concentrates on matters related to the Bentonville Public Library facilities, services, and organization. Ideal candidates are long-term, public library patrons seeking to support the BPL mission to engage our community, encourage discovery, and promote literacy by offering lifelong learning opportunities. BPL especially seeks variety in representation of professions, age, familial status, and other background demographics. This is a volunteer position.
Bentonville residents with a passion for accessible information and literature and a desire to serve their community are encouraged to apply. Applicants must:
• Be a registered voter
• Reside within the corporate limits of Bentonville
• Be available to attend monthly meetings
Note: currently, the board meets at 1:00 – 2:00 pm the first Wednesday of each month in the Rotary Room at BPL or through video conferencing. Meeting days and times may follow a different schedule, starting early next year. Unless necessitated by Library business, no meetings are scheduled during July and August.
Members are encouraged to be available to represent the library at special events both on- and off-site, promote the library through community interactions both in person and online, and seek out donations and organizational support.
