Bentonville’s Development Review Process Improves July 1
Engineers, contractors and developers are encouraged to attend the May 10 workshop.
Bentonville, AR – Before anyone shops in a new retail building, moves into a new apartment, or enjoys the latest culinary experience at the newest restaurant, the site and building has undergone a complex process of reviews and approvals. This development review process involves developers, engineers, contractors, several City of Bentonville departments, the planning commission and city council to ensure that the site and building are safe and meet all city codes.
Like the rest of Northwest Arkansas, Bentonville is growing at a rapid pace. In fact, the number of residential units permitted in 2018 already exceeds that of 2017. The demands of that growth is felt daily by the city departments that work with developers. To accommodate these demands, changes to the development review process are necessary. Consequently, staff from development-related departments have identified how to streamline the process and improve efficiency from start to finish.
The City of Bentonville is hosting a Development Review Workshop on Thursday, May 10 in the Redbud Room at the Community Center, 1101 Citizens Way, Bentonville, Arkansas. Two times are available, 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. City staff will present the new process and identify significant changes from the current process. Representatives from building inspections, electric, engineering, fire, planning, sewer, transportation, water, and wastewater departments will be available to answer questions.
Developers, engineers, contractors, and individuals and businesses that participate in building and developing in Bentonville are strongly encouraged to attend. To ensure adequate seating and materials, RSVP by emailing planning@bentonvillear.com or by calling (479)271-3122.
