Bentonville, AR……. The City of Bentonville is pleased to announce the unveiling of Rainbow Spring, Bentonville’s first technology-enabled interactive art piece. The unveiling ceremony will take place on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 4:30 pm at Lawrence Plaza, located at 214 NE A Street.
Rainbow Spring consists of a series of acrylic tubes with LED light strips inside. The LED lights are programmable and set in motion by sensors mounted in the sculpture. When activated, the LED lights mathematically replicate the physics of gravity inviting people to play with the sculpture and explore the casual relationship between the lights and sensors.
The interactive art piece will be permanently installed at the entrance to Lawrence Plaza and was made possible through a partnership with Bentonville Parks and Recreation, the Public Arts Advisory Committee, Visit Bentonville, and the Scott Family Amazeum. Rainbow Spring was created by Fayetteville maker Eugene Sargent in collaboration with the Scott Family Amazeum Creative team as part of the museum’s Maker in Residence Program.
